THE POWER OF VOLUNTEERS

"Those who can, do. Those who can do more, volunteer."

VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED

For those who have registered, thank you for your interest in the upcoming summer Games. In order to proceed with your application please ensure you have submitted your Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening (CRC/VSS). Without this we cannot move forward with your application and schedule you for shifts.

Please see the instructions below on how to obtain your Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening (CRC/VSS)

Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening (CRC/VSS)

A CRC / VSS must be completed for all people over the age of 16 who are volunteering for the games.  The CRC/VSS is in place to provide screening of individuals who intend on volunteering with the vulnerable sector.  A vulnerable person is defined as a person who, because of their age, a disability, or other circumstances, whether temporary or permanent are (a) in a position of dependence on others or (b) are otherwise at a greater risk than the general population of being harmed by a person in a position of authority or trust relative to them.

Obtaining a CRC / VSS is a mandatory step in the volunteer registration process

Already have a CRC / VSS completed?

A CRC/VSS completed after August 1st, 2016 will be accepted.

You must scan a copy of this completed check and send it to: sovolunteer@peelpolice.ca
You will need to retain your original copy with you as you will need to bring it to the Volunteer Orientation Night.

How to apply for a CRC / VSS

If you reside within the Region of Peel and would like to volunteer for the 2017 Special Olympics Ontario Provincial Summer Games please attend Peel Regional Police Headquarters / Records Bureau at 7750 Hurontario St. Brampton during their business hours.

Hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm, Saturday 9:30am to 4:30pm and Sunday Closed.

  • You must attend in person and bring your completed CRC/VSS form along with two pieces of government issued identification; one which must have a photograph and proof of address. Click here for CRC/VSS forms and waiver.
  • Identify yourself as being a volunteer for the 2017 Special Olympics Ontario Provincial Summer Games and sign the consent waiver.

There will be no fee for the Records Check to be processed with the consent waiver if you reside in the Region of Peel. You will not receive a copy of your Records Check and will be notified through Better Impact that your status as Volunteer has been accepted.
